Colleen Miller is an Australian photographic artist whose work spans documentary, travel, journalism, commercial photography and experimental photographic practice developed over nearly seven decades.
She began her photographic career in Sydney, studying photographic techniques with Tom Lyons and John Hearder before working professionally in photographic laboratories and studios. Over time, her work moved across journalism, commercial photography, travel photography and gallery-based practice.
Throughout her career, photography has been both a profession and an evolving creative discipline. In later years, Colleen established Fairfax Art Space in Canberra and developed experimental approaches including gum bichromate, cyanotype, mixed-media works and printing onto glass.
Her work is driven by curiosity, process and transformation, reflecting a sustained interest in landscape, place, memory and the expressive possibilities of photographic materials.
